About Confucius

Confucius (551-479 BC), named Qiu, styled Zhong Ni, native of the State of Lu in the late Spring & Autumn Period, was a prominent thinker, educator and statesman in ancient China and the founding father of the school of Confucianism. It’s said that Confucius had 3,000 disciples, including 72 ones with great virtues.
For 14 years, Confucius and his disciples traveled around the states. Confucius was also an ancient literature compiler, who revised The Poetry, finalized The Decorum and The Music, prefaced The Book of Changes, and composed The Spring & Autumn. Upon his return to the State of Lu from his extensive travels around neighboring states, Confucius was honored as “the Revered of the State”. He spent his twilight years compiling literature and teaching. He died in the 16th year of reign of ruler Lu’aigong (479 BC) and was buried by the Si River north of the City of Lu. Confucius, with his profound influence on the development of Chinese thoughts and culture, is the Chinese man with the most extensive name recognition in the world.
